A few weeks ago, (after getting bit for the third time- ouch!!) I decided it was time to get Silas going on solid food. First step: get out the booster chair and spoons and explore.
He really liked sitting up in his seat- especially after it was up on the chair and he was on our level. He sat with us a dinner for a few days and played with his spoon.
I have been thinking for a little while on what exactly to feed him. I had always heard rice cereal, but then I heard “oh, grains are really hard for tiny tummies to digest” but the Dr. Sears said nice things about rice differing from other grains, but then some friends said it made their babies constipated. Some other friends started their little ones on avocado, because it has lots of good calories and fats, but our grocery store does not sell avocados. Ultimately I decided he is not really eating for nutrition yet, but just to learn how to eat. So rice cereal it is.
Last Tuesday (I know, it’s been a little while, sorry!) he ate his official first bite of solid food. We took a video of this first little meal, so we couldn’t take pictures at the same time. I did make some screen shots of the video, so they are a little fuzzy looking.
First bite going in….
This isn’t too bad mom…hey what’s this thing to grab? Can I try?
Ha! I got my own spoon now! (I had to go get my own.)
Hey I could get used to cereal.
He actually made very little mess this time. But there are more pictures coming from subsequent days!
He has something to say: b gfh vbbbnmbbbbbbbbbb g yg gh m bm b,m mmmmmmmm vjbg nbjk
Congratulations, Silas on your first meal!

I love #0004 where it looks like he is giving the spoon a great chomp! Adorable!!!
Something new everyday, eh? So cute at this age!
that last picture is hilarious!!!
I am glad solids are going so well for him! Jared just throws his spoon but yesterday we tried some more avocado and he didn’t make any bad faces!!! Yeah!!!
NOW the fun begins!!! Love those faces!!
